Gary Lefrancois is a master drummer with more than 35 years playing and teaching experience. The Buddy Project Big Band was conceived as a "teaching" band, designed to showcase the music of "the world's greatest drummer", beginning with the original Buddy Rich Big Band, which launched to critical acclaim and commercial success in 1965 and continued until the drummers' death in 1987. Buddy's command of the big band drum chair, and the level of musicianship he inspired from his musicians, are legendary, and The Buddy Project Big Band, comprised of some of Denver's most acclaimed jazz musicians, keeps with that tradition by faithfully executing Buddys' original arrangements, culminating in a DVD project aimed at teaching young drummers how to play in a big band environment, using Buddy's style, techniques, and phrasing. Big band jazz has never sounded better!
